Love the feeling of being at one with your sailboat and Mother Nature? No better waters than the Gulf of Mexico. Hoist the spinnaker and nothing replaces running downwind. However, Skipper, you need a place to have your sailboat in the backyard with no bridges to access the Gulf. We have a lot of water in and around Naples but, you have to know the ropes to find the homes with enough water depth and no obstructions to enjoy sailing in our beautiful tropical waters.
Some of the neighborhoods with single family homes that can accommodate sailboats are Port Royal, Aqualane Shores and Royal Harbor which all sail through Gordon Pass to the Gulf of Mexico. There are a few streets in The Moorings which sit on Moorings Bay and sailboats enjoy no bridge access through Doctor’s Pass (Leeward Lane, Windward Way, Bow Line Bend, Beacon Lane and Mooring Line Drive). If the condominium lifestyle suits you, there are a handful of condo communities located on Moorings Bay and three in north Naples on Wiggins Pass (Aqua, Anchorage and Pelican Isles) that offer boat slips and sailing access to the Gulf.
We don’t have any “brass monkey weather” (if you don’t know that one, just Google it) in Naples so, there are no excuses. Get on that ship-to-shore radio and contact Tim @ (239) 272-4848 to make some headway in your search for a place to anchor.
