Perfectly located on the water with quick Gulf of Mexico access by boat, walking distance to beautiful beaches and a stones throw to Mercato for restaurants, shops and nightlife – that’s the neighborhood of Conners at Vanderbilt Beach.
The Conners neighborhood is a waterfront community with five hundred single family homes on the water that enjoys a unique location that has all things “Naples”. Your boat is in the backyard with a very short ride to the Gulf of Mexico as well as endless back bay boating and fishing. Vanderbilt Beach is at your doorstep with the Ritz Carlton Beach Hotel to the south, La Playa Resort Hotel in the middle and anchored at the north end by Delnor – Wiggins Beach State Park. ‘Mercato’ www.MercatoShops.com is home to the hottest new restaurants, boutiques and shops, nightclubs, a movie theater, Whole Foods and more which sits just a few blocks away at the intersection of Tamiami Trail and Vanderbilt Beach Road. There isn’t another neighborhood in all of Naples that offers the whole package like Conners.
Some of the original homes date back a few decades and you will see many being torn down as the neighborhood is transitioning quickly with the desirability of the location. Old aerial photos (circa 1952) show the Vanderbilt Beach area as wilderness of mangrove and lagoons next to the sandy beaches on the Gulf of Mexico. The developer, J. B. Conners, was the pioneer of this area and built the streets, dredged the finger canals and opened up the backwater to the salt water. It is said that he chose the name “Vanderbilt Beach” as a marketing move to create the impression of wealth and prestige.
At this time, there is a wide price range of homes for sale depending on the age of the house and the exact location within the community. Some of the homes have long water views if they are situated at the end of the cul-de-sac. Three streets on the west side of the bay enjoy premium locations just across the street from the beach and every home is on the bay water with Gulf of Mexico access – a very rare combination to have your boat behind your house and one of the best beaches in America just steps away from your front door. In addition, there are a few remaining vacant lots available to build your own custom home.
There is no formal homeowner’s association in Conners so there are no architectural guidelines to control your own personal design style, every property is pet friendly without restrictions on size and the vibe is “live and let live”. Conners of Vanderbilt Beach – life in Florida as it should be.
