Ever wonder about whose boats those are that are pulled up onto the beach in Naples? The City of Naples has a “Boats on the Beach” program for City residents to store non-motorized vessels on public property at specific locations on the beach. There are five sand locations for Hobie Cats, small sailboats and other similar vessels. In addition to the sand locations, the City of Naples has a total of three kayak racks at two locations which hold six kayaks or canoes not to exceed a length of 15 feet.
The locations are:
- 18th Avenue South
- 17th Avenue South
- 1st Avenue South
- Central Avenue
- Via Miramar Beach Access (on Gulfshore Boulevard in The Moorings)
For the sand locations, there is a $240 annual fee for the space rental and, if there is a waiting list at the time there is a non-refundable $25 wait list fee. One rental per person or family is allowed and the permit is good from October 1st to September 30th of the following year.
Locations for the kayak racks are:
- 3rd Avenue North (2 racks in that location)
- Lowdermilk Park (1 rack in that location)
For the kayak racks, the rental fee is $120 per year and there is no wait list fee. You can store one boat per rack. The policy for one person or family remains the same as the sand locations as well as the dates for the permit.
