Typically, a single family home is going to be less restrictive than a condominium. However, when there is an HOA involved in a community, then there is likely to be some guidelines. As an example, a gated community of single family homes with a homeowners association would have certain “dangerous” breeds unable to be approved, at the least. Some other communities might limit the number of pets. Condominiums can be expected to much more restrictive with limits on numbers, weight, size and type of animal. Do you have cats? We know the condos that allow your feline friends. Do you have birds? Believe it or not, there are condos which specifically allow birds.
All of this critical information – types of pets, number of pets, limitations for size and/or weight – is not readily available on the internet. When you do see some info on regulations – even in MLS listings, it is unreliable. It’s not enough to say “With Approval” in a property listing.
